Kaogma 2017 concludes with Zumba kontra droga


CADLAN, Pili, Camarines Sur --- The eight days in the tail end of merry month of May that is dubbed “Kaogma 2017” ended with a super hot Zumba Kontra Droga ala flash mob at the Freedom Sports Complex, San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur on May 28, 2017 which pushed the “happiness meter” into its maximum overdrive claiming once again its tag line as indeed “the hottest festival in the world.” Gov. Migz Villafuerte sure did put out all the stops to make sure that this year’s roster of events will delight all the senses and generate the deluge of visitors that came in droves to attend and witness the colorful mix of cultural and sports activities that will cater to all age genres as well as people’s various interests and inclinations. The Zumba Kontra Droga was participated not only by the Capitol personnel but the provincial PNP, the Philippine Army, the DepEd teachers, other line agencies, and invited LGUs with celebrity guest, PBB’s Saicy Aguila, leading them to well-coordinated moves amid fast beats that made everyone present dance to the popular music. The activity likewise encourages healthier lifestyle choices especially on matters concerning exercise to divert from vices such as alcohol and drugs. Other events that transpired during the Kaogma week were: The Cultural Street Dance where 10 municipalities sent their contingents with 2 groups from Pili battled it out last May 21, 2017 at the Freedom Sports Complex wherein the team from Milaor emerged as champion with P100,000.00 cash prize from the provincial government of Camarines Sur. The municipality of Balatan came in second place and receiving P75,000.00 cash and the contingent from Minalabac placed third with P50,000.00 cash prize. The other participants received consolation prizes. On May 23, 2017, The Big V Grand Finals for Kids and Adults was held at the Freedom Sports Complex with celebrity guests Ryzza Mae Dizon, Tony Labrusca, and Froilan Canlas were on hand to entertain the jam packed crowd as 20 contestants (10 from each category) sang their hearts out to get the nod of the judges. Ultimately, Kimberly Baluzo from Daet, Camarines Norte emerged as grand champion with P75,000.00 cash prize; Diane Lopez of Pili, Camarines Sur placed 1st Runner-Up with P50,000.00 cash prize; Alyssa Patricia Hernandez from Daet, Camarines Norte as 2nd Runner-Up with P30,000.00 cash prize; and Ron Adrie Pavia of Daraga, Albay rounding out the circle of winners at 3rd Runner-Up with P20,000.00 prize kitty. The rest of the adult finalists each received P5,000.00 each as consolation prizes. For the Kids Catergory, Ian Joseph Prellegera of Ligao City, Albay was declared grand champion with P20,000.00 cash prize; John Mark Barquilla of Bacacay, Albay as 1st Runner-Up with P10,000.00 cash prize; Nicole Iraula of San Vicente, Ocampo, Camarines Sur as 2nd Runner-Up with P5,000.00 cash prize; and Samiel Grace Franca of Tabaco City, Albay in 3rd Runner-Up with P3,000.00 cash prize. The other kiddie finalists each received P1,000.00 each as consolation prizes. On May 26, 2017, two major events were held simultaneously on different venues – the CWC Summer Bikini Summit 2017 at where else but at CWC and the 4th Gov. Migz Dance Revolution 2017 at the Freedom Sports Complex – each activity drawing its own cult crowd and followers. For the Bikini Summit, Wilber Bombase of Tigaon, Camarines Sur was adjudged as CWC Summer Bikini King with P20,000.00 in cash prize and the bragging rights to be dubbed as having the “best summer body” along with Genefe Soliman of Baao, Camarines Sur as CWC Summer Bikini Queen also with P20,000.00 cash prize and the tag as “best summer body.” Emerging as 1st Runners-Up are Hilmar Franco of Naga City and Ana Camille Banog of Pasacao, Camarines Sur with P10,000.00 cash prize each while Arnold Zaballa of Pili, Camarines Sur and Febby Valery Rosales of Guinobatan, Albay as 2nd Runners-Up with P5,000.00 cash prize each. For the Dance Revolution Grand Finals, the dance crews from the Rinconada area of the Camarines Sur province secured the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd spots making the winning circle as All-Rinconada victory: Trend PH from Nabua, Camarines Sur was declared 1st Place winners with P75,000.00 cash prize and bragging rights as “the best dance crew in Bicol,”; Elite Varsity of Baao, Camarines Sur emerged as 2nd Place winners with P50,000.00 cash prize; and Unizone of Iriga City rounded out the winners at 3rd Place with P30,000.00 cash prize. The other dance crew finalists each received P8,000.00 as consolation prizes. A foundation thanksgiving mass to commemorate the 438th founding anniversary of Camarines Sur as a province was also held on May 27, 2017 – declared a local provincial holiday – at the Capitol Convention Center, Cadlan, Pili and in the evening, the CamSur Rock Fest was held at the Freedom Sports Complex, San Jose, Pili where rock band enthusiasts convened and rocked to the music of SlapShock, Up Dharma Down, Giniling Festival, Grace Note, Yolanda Moon, all noted Manila-based rock bands, that “shookt” the foundations of the stadium until the wee hours of the following day!
