2018 Naga Investment Plan costs P2.2B

By Juan Escandor Jr. NAGA CITY---The Naga Investment Plan in 2018, or the official list of projects to be approved by the city council, has reached P2.2B, Vice Mayor Nelson Legacion said Wednesday. Legacion said the Naga Investment Plan comprised of road construction, public utility jeepney terminal, establishment of export processing zone, street lights modernization, among the projects to be undertaken by the city government. He said the investment plan budget is way above the projected budget of the LGU in 2018 of P1.2B. Legacion said the city government will not impose new taxes but would source funds from national government agencies like the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Department of Agriculture and other NGAs. He said among the infrastructure projects to be implemented next year include the establishment of the new cemetery and the circumferential road from Calauag to San Felipe. Legacion said the city government also plans to start next year the construction of east-bound jeepney-van terminal with an area of 3,000 square meters. He said Robinsons Mall has offered to designate terminal for jeepney inside the compound but the area is small because the city needs at least half a hectare. The east-bound terminal will service jeepneys and vans going to Partido, Rinconada and Albay. He said new roads will be constructed and the widening and improvement of the roads will be undertaken in Del Rosario, Cararayan and San Isidro road going to Haciendas de Naga where the 25-ha proposed export processing zone. Legacion said the tri-partite agreement has been signed between Mayor John Bongat and Engr. Aman and Mr Payumo to develop the export processing zone. He said Fuji will be the first investor in the proposed export processing zone which will recruit hundreds of employes.
