Good Morning Judge: Public support for Marawi

THE recent media reports on the rehabilitation of war-torn Marawi City is welcome news not only for the residents of the city but for the whole country as well. Many young members of the AFP, PNP and Philippine Marines have given up their lives courageously in an effort to preserve peace and protect the country from terrorist acts. It is also good to hear that the Chinese government is donating P15 million pesos for the relief operation. The Duterte administration in welcoming the donation was reported to have said that it will buttress the resources of the Department of Health and the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the conduct of the various health and welfare operations including consultations, evacuations and logistical support. This writer feels that it is but proper, in solidarity with the 235,000 internally displaced persons and many others in at least 16 evacuation centers, that our own local government alon side the schools and universities and civic organizations in the city should initiate the call for public support in this rehabilitation effort. TRIVIA: Birthday greetings to Compadre Totoy Reorizo who celebrated his birthday the other day, June 27. He is now a resident of Los Angeles, California. RTC Judges in Bicol will be gathering at the IBP here in Naga Cty for a round table discussion at 1:30pm on June 30. Dinner and fellowship will follow thereafter.
