CamNorte convenes peace and anti-drug councils, crisis body

Manlangit DAET, Camarines Norte --- A joint meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Ant-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) and Crisis Management Committee in this province was convened to tackle updates on peace and order and anti-drug campaign here. Chairperson Gov. Edgardo A. Tallado urged authorities to be on alert following the death of one soldier during an attack by the New People’s Army (NPA) at the patrol base in Labo town recently. He also said that the province should also be ready to confront terrorism similar to what is happening in Marawi City. He urged the Muslim community in the province headed by its President Karin H. Abdullah who was invited during the meeting to cooperate with the authorities in case there was a problem to prevent violence in the province. Meanwhile, Brigadier General Rolando C. Manalo, commanding officer of the 902nd Brigade of the Armed Forces of the Philippines said that the attack in Labo used the tactic of Maute wherein the assailants turned off the light before firing the shot. He said that people of Camarines Norte should be ready for any eventualities that might happen in the province. He also urged the public to donate food, clothing and other things for the victims of Marawi. They were to accept donations until June 30. On drug operation, agent Joylann Cedo of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency reported that they conducted nine operations wherein 11 persons were arrested and eight cases were filed in court. She said that 395.1301 grams were confiscated amounting to more than P1.9M. On the other hand, the Provincial Crisis Management Committee in Camarines Norte were reorganized following an executive order from the governor on the composition of the committee. The committee chairman was Governor Tallado and the Vice Chairmen are BGen. Rolando C. Manalo of the AFP and PSSupt. Rudolph B. Dimas of the PNP while the members are Board Member Artemio B. Serdon, Jr. - SP Committee Chair on Peace and Order and the directors and chiefs of CIDG, DILG, PSWDO,BFP, DOH, Provincial Legal Officer, DepEd, DPWH, CANORECO, CNWD, NFA, DOH, PIA, Kabalikat Civicom, PHO and DSWD.
