IN CAMARINES SUR: Barangay chief gunned down


By Jorge Hallare LEGAZPI CITY -- A barangay chairman was gunned down by two unidentified persons in front of his house in Barangay San Vicente, in San Jose, Camarines Sur Tuesday evening. Noel Briones, the barangay chairman, was walking outside his house at around 7:00 p.m. when assailants chased and shot him in the head, according to Senior Insp., Ma. Luisa Calubaquib, information officer of the Bicol regional police. Briones was rushed by his family and fellow villagers to a hospital in Naga City but died as he was being treated. San Jose Police personnel are now searching for Briones’ assailants, who were spotted roaming outside the victim’s house prior to the shooting incident.
