4th Peñafrancia Short Film Festival: A Success

By Caceres Commission on Communications Focusing on the theme: “To bridge communities through Christian Values and INA,” the 4th Peñafrancia Short Film Festival (4PSFF) concluded last October 8, 2017 at the Universidad de Sta. Isabel Auditorium, Naga City, with its Red Carpet Awarding Ceremonies. The event was graced by the Archbishop of Caceres, Most Rev. Rolando J. Tria Tirona, O.C.D., D.D. who, in his message, personally thanked the sponsors as well as the participants, who in their creativity highlighted the devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia. Naga City Mayor John Bongat, Department of Education representatives and Bicolano Actors Rez Cortes and Bembol Roco, who acted as Festival Jurors, were also present in the occasion. The 4PSFF this year was open to all High School students of the Bicol Region. There were 10 short film entries that came from schools from Albay, Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur. After a series of Road Shows and rigorous scrutiny, the festival winners are as follows: Best Picture - HILO of Ateneo de Naga University; 2nd Best Picture - OMELET of Ligao National High School; 3rd Best Picture - BANAAG of Baao National High School; Other Finalists: KUNG SAKALING ‘DI MABATID of Naga City Science High School; PANINIMBAGAN of Naga Parochial School; PANANALIG of Vinzons National High School Special Awards: Epson People’s Choice - HILO; Best Poster - BANAAG; Best Cinematography - KUNG SAKALING ‘DI MABATID; Best Actor - HILO- (Benito) Shelwyn Ramos; Best Actress - KUNG SAKALING ‘DI MABATID - (Abe) Krista Ann Chavez Fr. Luisito A. Occiano, the Project Director of 4PSFF, said that the success of the Festival is dedicated to INA who is always the source of unity. The festival was inspired by the celebration of the Year of the Parish, Communion of Commmunities, and the words of Pope Francis: “Media can help us to feel closer to one another, creating a sense of unity of the human family which can in turn inspire solidarity”.
