Ely Buendia live in UNEP!

On Saturday, October 21, Bicolanos especially Irigueños will have a once in a lifetime chance to witness and experience a live music performance by no less than our very own Bicolano rock icon Eleandre Basiño Buendia, Eraserhead’s guitarist, songwriter and lead vocalist. Ely as he is popularly known in the music world has undeniably conquered his generation with his songs and has paved the way for other Filipino alternative rock bands to find their own niche under the sun. Who would ever forget the songs “MAGASIN”, “PARE KO”, “LIGAYA”, “ANG HULING EL BIMBO” and other Original Pilipino Music (OPM)? These are the songs that marked an era of the iconic rock band that sees through the innermost emotions of the youth as conveyed in every lyric of the songs. These are the glory days that placed Ely Buendia as one of the most sought after performers of his generation, up to this time. Dubbed as the “Beatles of the Philippines,” Buendia’s band unequivocally managed to successfully introduced and fit his music genre to his followers, proofs are their continued presence in the stage, gracing local and international stints and still getting yells and cheers from their audience. Ely never lost that magic. Believing that indeed his presence will draw and will make the crowd happy, University of Northeastern Philippines (UNEP) Executive Vice President and EVP for Finance Deli Alfelor-Tibi embarked on the idea of getting the band to perform at UNEP and benefit the special children of Bicol Development and Learning Center (BLDC) Foundation Inc. BLDC is the community extension arm of the University of Northeastern Philippines (UNEP) established in March 2003 which caters to the needs of children with learning and physical disabilities. The proceeds of the show will be donated to the center to help sustain the needs of its beneficiaries. Despite her inexperience as a concert producer, Ms. Deli kept the faith that the event will raise the much needed fund that will augment the medical needs of children, adolescents and adults with various types of disabilities such as cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, learning difficulties, epilepsy and similar incapacity. The center was established in March 2003 as a community extension service of UNEP. Aside from enjoying the great music of Ely Buendia, its audience will also have a chance to lend a helping hand to BDLC. So come, enjoy and be an instrument of generosity. (UNEP)
