Forum on PNR modernization set

NAGA CITY --- Representatives of various local government units, non-government organizations and other stakeholders in the third congressional district of Camarines Sur, which include this city, will be given an update of the proposed program on the improvement of the Philippine National Railway (PNR) in a forum to be initiated by the Office of Rep. Gabriel H. Bordado and the Naga Parochial School Batch 67 – Ateneo de Naga HS 1971 Association, Inc. The event, dubbed “Forum on Bicol Express Modernization, will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Avenue Plaza Hotel, this city. Rep. Bordado says the Bicol Region sees the Philippine National Railway not only as a vital means of transportation but, as a symbol of its culture and history. Its most-sought after rehabilitation and modernization have long been delayed, if not put aside due to many reasons, including funding constraints, to the disappointment of many Bicolanos, specifically the ordinary commuters and traders who want an efficient and affordable transportation service from Bicol to Manila and vice versa. The congressman is inviting government officials, businessmen, stakeholders and the general public to the forum to share their thoughts and the significant contributions or aspirations of their office in the modernization of the PNR, which is popularly known among Bicolanos as the Bicol Express. Vice President Ma. Leonor G. Robredo, who herself is a former congresswoman of the third district, has been invited to grace the event.
