SP Highlights: For a brighter future

This November, we are celebrating the Children’s Month. During this time, we are highlighting the need to protect and promote the rights of children and, along with it, emphasizing the crucial role that they will play in the betterment of our city’s future. It is opportune, therefore, that in this part of the year, the 12th Sangguniang Panlungsod was able to enact a key legislation that will provide more resources to a very crucial aspect in our children’s growth --- education. With the passage of Ordinance No. 2017-083, the city government has allocated an additional subsidy of P7,862,585.00 to the Department of Education. The aforesaid amount is aimed at improving the quality of education in public schools in Naga. It will help our teachers and administrators to become more responsive and more effective in teaching our students and, consequently, facilitate the holistic development of our children to become responsible, productive and innovative citizens of our society. If we have well-educated and well-disciplined individuals as a new breed of leaders, we believe that our society may be able to find, at last, trailblazing solutions to pressing societal issues that, at present, seem confounding and incurable. Also, these children, equipped at the early age with the fundamental values of integrity, excellence and equity, shall someday be the beacons of a sustainable Maogmang Lugar founded and anchored as it is on democratic and participatory governance. The children are the hope of our nation. By investing in them, we are trusting and believing in them to indeed lead our country to a better future.
