STL chair in slay try dies

Arguelles LEGAZPI CITY --- The head of the of the private company that operates small town lottery (STL) in Albay who was critically wounded by assassins’ bullets finally expired on Monday, Nov. 20, or five days after the shooting incident in the parking area of a shopping mall in this city’s busiest business district. Alex German Alemania, the chairman of the Lucky V Prime Enterprise, an STL gaming firm in Albay, was pronounced dead at about 10:30 a.m. Monday by attending physicians at Albay Doctors’ Hospital here. He suffered a bullet wound in his stomach after two gunmen aboard a motorcycle shot at the white van he was riding on with companions at around 5:30 p.m. of Nov. 15 at Ayala Malls here, according to Police Senior Supt. Nilo Berdin Legazpi City police chief. The gunmen while fleeing on board a motorcycle soon engaged in a shootout with responding police officers. One of the gunmen, Marlon Magsino, died instantly while his suspected companion-accomplice, Michael Malveda, was wounded and brought to the hospital under custody by the police. Berdin, when asked about the motive of the attack, said that based on Alemania’s affidavit executed before he died, two members of the five-man board of Lucky V could be behind the attempt on his life. In the same statement, Alemania revealed there was an ongoing internal problem and misunderstanding between him and the two board members that prompted him to file a complaint with the PCSO for disloyalty against the two board members. Berdin said they are still building up their case to lead them to the mastermind of the deadly attack. Berdin believes that the riding in tandem gunmen (who were both from Batangas province) belong to a for-hire crime syndicate operating in Southern Tagalog.
