GK homeowners receive baking tools from DOLE
By Armie B. Gunay NAGA CITY --- Household beneficiaries from Gawad Kalinga in Bgy. Del Rosario here received baking tools from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) during the Kabuhayan Starter Kit Distribution at the Metro PESO, City Hall Complex, this city, last Monday, January 8. Thirty- five households from the said barangay are beneficiaries of the baking livelihood program under the government’s Bottom-Up Budgeting (BUB) program. Ms. Corazon Ragas, GK- Del Rosario project director, expressed joy and grateful appreciation for the tools and equipment received from DOLE. “’Yan po ang gusto ming mangyari, may livelihood sinda para makaangat man sinda sa buhay,” explained Ragas. With their knowledge in baking acquired thru series of trainings and seminars sponsored by the Metro PESO under the Grow Negosyo program, the beneficiaries are more than willing to impart their skills, and the set of baking tools and equipment given them are truly helpful in setting up their community bakery project inside the GK site. The distributed kit consists of pastry brushes, measuring bowls, stand mixers, egg beaters, weighing scales, trays, and oven, among others. Jaime Francisco, Barangay Grow Negosyo Account Officer of Metro PESO, disclosed they will also be awarding kabuhayan kits to the basket- making production workers in Barangay Panicuason, as well as cooking tools to the bulastog vendors at Plaza Rizal. With funds allotted for more livelihood programs for this year, DOLE is looking forward to more livelihood projects by ordinary residents and small-time entrepreneurs.
