New NIA Bicol manager vows to improve services
By Juan Escandor Jr. NAGA CITY---Taking over the leadership and management of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) in Bicol, the new regional manager of the irrigation agency vows to improve its services to the farmers as well as strengthen the NIA’s institution. Newly appointed NIA Regional Manager Ramon A. Bugacia told the Bicol Mail that he will strive to make the implementation of the projects faster and better in order to improve the services to the rice farmers all over the region. Bugacia, who replaced Romeo Lopez last week after a three-month stint in Bicol, said he will also strengthen the NIA institution here by upgrading the capabilities and skills of NIA staff and officials with relevant trainings. He said he will also work for the improvement of the NIA employees’ welfare and working condition. Last week, Bugacia officially took over as the new regional manager of NIA in a simple ceremony held at the regional office here. During the ceremony, Bugacia received from Lopez the symbolic key of the NIA Bicol regional office. As part of the reshuffle of NIA officials all over the country, Lopez was transferred to Region IV-A while Bugacia took over the Bicol regional office after his stint in Region VII.
