New BPO opens in Naga

By Armie B. Gunay NAGA CITY --- A new Business Process Outsourcing outfit has again opened in this city. Business process outsourcing, or BPO, is the contracting of a specific business task, such as payroll, human resources (HR) or accounting, to a third-party service provider. Usually, the service provider caters to the needs of its clients that are based in another country. Formally opened last Jan. 31, Quantrics Naga, which is housed at an attached building of Robinson’s Place Naga is the second branch of Quantrics Enterprises, Inc. to be opened in the Philippines. The first one was established in Taytay, Rizal in 2016. As the fifth to be located here, Quantrics joins four other BPO companies already operating in the city, which are Sutherland, Stellar, Concentrix, and IBM. Quantrics President Mark Wirtz said they “believe that the qualities of the Bicolanos, particularly the Nagueños – language skills, communication skills, empathy, and customer relations services – are the ideal traits we look for in employees.” As a captive call center, Quantrics serves only the single account of its Canadian parent company. “This setup brings our employees, or our ‘Qmunity’, as we like to call the team, to the top of our priorities with a clear focus on quality and people over profit. This focus has led to the incredible ‘People Powered’ culture we have successfully fostered at Quantrics Taytay, and we are excited to bring this to our Naga site,” added Wirtz. Quantrics provides customer service, technical support, loyalty, back office, and other services to one of Canada’s top telecommunication companies. Naga Mayor John Bongat and DTI Camarines Sur Provincial Director Edna Tejada, along with the top executives of Quantrics, led the formal cutting of ribbon and blessing of the new office. During the inauguration ceremonies, Mayor John Bongat highlighted all the added values of having a BPO company operating in the local community, from new revenue generation and employment opportunities, to stirring up the local income that eventually help fuel the local economy. Quantrics has now in its employ more than five hundred young recruits from this city and neighboring towns and is set to double their manpower next year.
