No area in CamSur is drug-free

By Juan Escandor Jr. NAGA CITY---All over Camarines Sur, no area is drug-free even after the massive anti-drug operations that resulted in deaths of suspected drug peddlers and users, the police provincial office here said. Chief Insp. Rose Vasquez, public information officer of the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office, said, however, there are three barangays recommended to be declared drug-free. Vasquez said the PPO did not stop the anti-drug operations even when it was transferred to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. She said upon the transfer again of the lead role of the police in the anti-drug operations, they are submitting three barangays to be validated as drug-free. Vasquez said they are processing the three barangays and the papers are with the governor. She said they are now doing case build-up against suspected drug peddlers as the police started anew the anti-drug operations. Vasquez said Camarines Sur is among the provinces in Bicol with anti-drug operations considered satisfactory. She said there are 203 out of 1,036 barangays in Camarines Sur affected with the drug problem. Vasquez said that while the PDEA was the one tasked to lead the anti-drug operation, they did not stop the barangay clearing operations. She said the barangay clearing operations include the listing of drug personalities, their status and the process they have undergone.
