Alumni of 3 high schools mark reunion with outreach program
By Armie B. Gunay NAGA CITY --- Alumni members of Colegio (now Universidad) de Sta. Isabel High School Batch 1983 celebrated their 35th (Coral) reunion last February 8 with community service and outreach program in collaboration with alumni of two other friendly schools. For the second time, the USI batch’s annual reunion brought cheers to the city’s less privileged citizens, including their children, who were also treated to various humanitarian mission and health services. In 2011, or seven years ago, the same Isabelinas brought an outreach program in nearby municipality of Bombon, Camarines Sur as a culminating activity of their batch reunion during that year. This year’s outreach program included a medical- dental mission, physical therapy sessions, diabetes clinic, free legal consultation, supplemental feeding program, distribution of school supplies, spiro- testing for COPD, HIV- Testing and turn-over of a public toilet in Barangay Sabang here, courtesy of five participating Rotary Clubs. Ms. Lilibeth Llacer- Sanchez, the president of CSI (now USI) High School Batch ’83 said that as part of their advocacy to extend help to various communities, they wanted their other batch mates from two other institutions to experience a different kind of sense of fulfillment through community service without expecting in return. Around 500 children and a total of 1,360 residents from the barangays of Concepcion Pequeña, Concepcion Grande, Sabang, and Tinago stood as beneficiaries of the humanitarian mission. Lilibeth said they have chosen the indigents of the most depressed zones in the more populaour barangays of the city to be recipients of their community service. The activity, dubbed as ‘Colegiala- Atenista- Seminarista ’83 Triple Encounter 2018’, brought together in an atmosphere of collaboration, friendship and love towards fellowmen the alumni of the three leading institutions in the city --- Universidad de Sta Isabel High School ’83, Ateneo de Naga High School ‘83, the Holy Rosary Minor Seminary High School ’83 – to help alleviate the plight of the city’s poor. Their collective community service is further boosted by the support of the Rotary Club of Alabang, Rotary Clubs of Naga East, Centerpoint, Muntinlupa and Parañaque East that assured the success of the outreach program.
