Cop shot dead; lady companion survives

Arguelles LEGAZPI CITY --- A policeman was gunned down Wednesday (February 28) noon while his lady companion survived the attack carried out by unidentified gunmen riding in tandem along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Calzada in Ligao City, Police Senior Inspector Emmanuel Ramos, spokesperson of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Albay said. Killed instantly was PO2 Daniel Ochoa, a member of the Bula town PNP police force in Camarines Sur, according to Ramos. The incident occurred at around 12:05 p.m. Wednesday. The victim was driving a private SUV with his lady companion when the gunmen on board a motorcycle overtook them and fired several shots at the policeman, killing him instantly. Ramos said the victim and his companion were on their way to the Police Training Center at the PNP regional office in Camp Simeon Ola here. The Ligao City police are in pursuit operation against the suspects as of this reporting period.
