CEACAL joins BACS Youth Camp 2018 in Virac

By Juan Carlos Madrid VIRAC, Catanduanes - Twenty-nine students and faculty-advisers from four catholic schools in Camarines Sur represented the Catholic Educational Association of Caceres and Libmanan (CEACAL) in the annual Bicol Association of Catholic Schools (BACS) Youth Camp from February 28 to March 3, themed “Forging a Culture of Sharing: Communion of Bicolano Youth”. Leading the delegates from CEACAL are Rev. Fr. Rex Andrew C. Alarcon, CEACAL President, and Francine A. Ong, BACS Youth Vice-President for CEACAL. Consisting the CEACAL delegation are students from the Naga Parochial School, Ateneo de Naga University Junior High School, St. Andrew Academy in Sangay. and the Colegio de Santa Rita Foundation, Inc. in Del Gallego. They joined, met, socialized, and made new friends with the delegates from other Catholic Educational Associations in the Bicol Region: CEAD (Daet), CEAL (Legazpi), CEAS (Sorsogon), MACEA (Masbate), and CEAV (Virac), who hosted this year’s edition of the Youth Camp. The four days of Camp were filled with activities including an Outreach Program and its subsequent Group Sharing, Games, Live Pure Movement, Cultural Night, Youth Ball, and the search for Mr. and Ms. BACS 2018. Garnering the titles of Mr. and Ms. BACS 2018 are the candidates from the Catholic Educational Association of Legazpi (CEAL), marking the first time that both titles were captured by the same Association. Before the Camp ended, the delegates elected the new set of officers of the BACS Youth Council. Juan Carlos R. Madrid of the Naga Parochial School (NPS) was elected as the new BACS Youth Vice-President for CEACAL for 2018-2019. Madrid succeeds Francine A. Ong, also from NPS. BACS Youth Camp 2019 will be hosted by the Catholic Educational Association of Sorsogon.
