PREX refresh at ICP Naga
A Parish Renewal Experience (PREX) Refresh Seminar was conducted last February 23-25 at the Immaculate Conception Parish (ICP) in Naga City. 74 PREX graduates attended the event, 57 of which were graduates of the Parish, especially those currently serving in different ministries and religious organizations. The remaining 14 came from different Parishes in the Archdiocese. The PREX Core Group was headed by Mrs. Juanita Alarcon, who joined the Refresh as both participant and auxillary, while the 17-member Outreach Team headed by August and Beth Perez came in from Manila. PREX graduate Fr. Rex Andrew Alarcon gave the first talk while ICP Parish Priest Fr. Domingo Florida delivered the last talk, motivating the participants to serve in the Parish consistently and zealously. Florida envisions that PREX and BEC (Basic Ecclesial Communities) will be the formation arms of the said Parish. The PREX Formation Seminar was first introduced at ICP in 1993 during the pastoral leadership of the late Msgr. Juan Alarcon, while the establishment of BECs was initiated by former Parish Priest Fr. Mario Arnulfo Gaite. Both programs have flourished in the Parish as they took major roles in the spiritual lives of the people. The PREX graduates conduct outreach Formation Seminars to other parishes while the BECs have remained steadfast and faithful in their respective communities. On June 15-17, the 17-member Outreach Team will conduct PREX Class 161 at ICP. Participants will be the current leaders of the Parish, serving as one of the following: as member of the Parish Pastoral Council, as head of a Parish Ministry, as Sitio Pastoral Council Chairperson, or as a Sitio Pastoral Officer. June 18-19 is resevred for training for speakers from the Parish as well as those who will be serving as members of the Music Ministry and in the other different Committees of PREX.
