Naga chamber vows ‘bigger, better, more’ exciting Bicol Business Month
By Ana-Liza S. Macatangay NAGA CITY --- For more than three decades since its establishment in 1986, the Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (MNCCI), has been this city’s long-time partner in uplifting the lives and economic condition of small and aspiring entrepreneurs. This year, MNCCI president Ferdinand Sia pitched a “Bigger, Better and More” slogan to express the chamber’s intent to bring the brightest and the best showcase of products and string of economic opportunities to the local business sector during the month-long celebration of Bicol Business Month (BBM) in July 2018. BBM 2018 chairperson Eleanor Zuñiga Montemayor enjoined the members of the media during the press conference held Thursday last week at the Avenue Plaza Hotel here to drumbeat the upcoming BBM in the airwaves, print, television and social media platforms for a wider reach of the information. Aside from the inclusion of regular BBM activities such as the BBM exhibits and trade fair where local economic players are invited to take part, the chamber also worked for additional “firsts” in its list of events to watch for. These include the conduct of a socio-economic event dubbed “Angat Kabuhayan” which will provide economic opportunities for the women sector in partnership with the Office of Vice President Leni Robredo. Likewise, the chamber proudly announced the first regional construction event – the Bicol Construction and Building Expo to be held from July 14 to 19. Believing that a healthy lifestyle—fit, hale and hearty self—is also a must for an individual, organizers added in the list a special event labeled as Cardio Marathon. This special wellness activity endeavors to promote not just a financially well-off businessman but also a well-rounded and fit individual. The organizers also ensured that all sectors will have their fair share of attention and recognition during the BBM celebration. The agricultural fair will showcase earth products from the farmers and aqua resources from the fisher folks. On July 21, millennials and aspiring youth leaders will have a chance to hone their talents and redirect their energy in worthy endeavors through the Bicol Business Youth Summit. “Techies” and science enthusiasts will surely enjoy the Department of Science and Technology’s exhibits and programs. A special event has also been allotted to Persons with Disability, details of which will be discussed with the Naga City PWD office. To cap the list of exciting events, organizers also appended the most awaited Halyao Awards, a recognition of outstanding and exemplary businessmen and women who made a remarkable imprint in the business industry.
