CEBU --- Vice President Leni Robredo visited Camp Jesse M. Robredo at the Philippine Public Safety College Regional Training Center 7 in Consolacion town, Cebu province Thursday (March 29) last week. Robredo, together with daughters Jillian and Tricia and her extended family, were welcomed by more than 100 police personnel inside the camp named under her late husband. The Vice-President said she is pleased with how the camp has improved since she last visited in 2016 during the inauguration of its academic building. Camp Jesse Robredo in Consolacion, Cebu was the last place Jesse Robredo visited before his plane crashed in Masbate. It was on Aug. 18, 2012, when the then DILG chief led the groundbreaking ceremony of the PPSC’s regional training school in Consolacion town. After the event Robredo figured in a fatal plane crash on his way back to Bicol. The camp, originally known as PNP Regional Training Center, was named after the former DILG Secretary and Naga City Mayor by virtue of R.A. 10797 authored by then Cebu Representative now Mandaue Mayor Luigi Quisumbing. For VP Leni, Cebu and the camp will always be memorable to her. “Bicol is our home, but we always consider Cebu our second home,” she said. Police Superintendent Nelvin Monterey Nicohermoso, director of the camp, also presented the upcoming projects of the facility. Robredo said she will continue to support the camp’s projects. “Kahit maliit lang ang budget ng opisina natin, gagawan natin yan ng paraan,” she said. She encouraged all those who attended the event to serve the public truly, honestly and simply. “Let us live up to the legacy of Jesse, na pwede namang magserbisyo at mamuhay pa rin ng simple,” she said.
