2nd internat’l research conference concluded

NAGA CITY --- The 2nd International Research Conference took place at Villa Caceres Hotel here last April 12-14. Organized by the University Research Council of Ateneo de Naga University (ADNU), the conference was attended by academics, teachers and students representing 17 institutions across regions in the country. Three keynote speakers inspired the participants to respond to the concerns of environment conservation, education in higher education and the ubiquity of technology. Ms. Gina Lopez, a well known Filipino environmentalist and philanthropist, encouraged government officials to invest in area development in order to uplift the lives of people. Professor Tereso Tullao, Jr., a distinguished professor from De la Salle University, Manila, highlighted the importance of higher education in the formation of social, human and knowledge capital and Professor Murali Raman, information management specialist and prolific researcher from Multimedia University, Cyberjaya, Malaysia, stressed the need for organizations to transform themselves in order to proactively respond to the opportunities and threats of digital technology. The conference with the theme, Vision 20/20: Perspectives and Insights on an Emergent Asia-Pacific Region, is a timely response of ADNU to the urgent call for research that would help address the problems in the region. The URC hopes that through organizing international research conferences, the Bicol region may be considered as a vibrant venue to conduct and present research.
