PIA CamSur head is Red Cross awardee

By Jam Madrid NAGA CITY --- April 17 (PIA) – Adding yet another feather to her cap, Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Camarines Sur Provincial Head Ana-Liza S. Macatangay recently received one of the prestigious awards and honor from the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) during its 32nd Biennial National Convention held April 11-13 at The Manila Hotel. Macatangay was conferred the Aurora Aragon Quezon Medal Award for her significant contribution in fulfilling the Red Cross’ mission of being in the frontline of humanitarian service. Being in this humanitarian organization as one of the Board of Directors and serving as the Board Secretary for almost a decade now she has exemplified the fundamental principles of the Red Cross as one of the most active member of the organization, assisting those who are in dire need of help. The Award came as a surprise for her as nominees were not informed that they are being eyed for the award. She was on official business to attend the 32nd Biennial National Convention as a member of PRC Camarines Sur chapter and voting delegate for the Board of Governors election to the convention. The Aurora Aragon Quezon Medal Award is given for highly distinguished service of not less than eight years as a leader or official of a unit; or for highly distinguished service in the promotion of the Philippine Red Cross mission. The medal with specific citation in diploma is given to the awardee and honors his/her contribution to the organization. For this year, PRC proudly granted the Aurora Aragon Quezon Medal to Macatangay and eight other greatly chosen people, (with the former as the youngest among the awardees) who have been a part of the PRC in delivering services in its aim to be “Always First, Always Ready, and Always There.” For Macatangay, volunteerism and being a woman for others is not strange to her as she has been involved in many voluntary undertakings as PIA Provincial Head and extending service beyond the call of duty. In 2014 she was also bestowed with the Pagmidbid sa Banwaan Mayoral Award, honoring the best and the brightest individuals of Pili . Being a Red Cross volunteer is more than just a philosophy but a way of life! (JRM-PIA5/Camarines Sur)
