Naga celebrates Farmers Week

Garchitorena NAGA CITY --- The city’s food producers celebrated Farmers’ Week with a host of activities at the City hall grounds here, in collaboration with the City Agriculture Office (CAgO) early this week. Clad in their creative costumes and props, the celebration started with a parade from the City Hall grounds to the Museo ni Jesse M. Robredo at the Naga City Civic Center. Ten participating barangays from the upland district of the city constructed their respective bahay kubo to display for sale various agricultural products infront of city hall for the3-day Agri-Fair. The products consisted of fresh fruits, vegetables and other organic crops. An agricultural guide book by Ernesto Asence III, an agricultural technologist, was also launched as one of the events in the celebration. There were games among the farmers. The Farmers Field School (FFS) also held the graduation of farmers in barangays San Isidro, Cararayan, Carolina and Concepcion Grande. The celebration concluded with the awarding ceremony of the best decorated booth of the Agri- Fair. With this year’s theme, “Agrikultura, Satuyang Padangaton, Para Dai Magutom,” the celebration is aimed to promote agriculture as an indispensable activity and industry in the community.
