Nuns’ monastery loses P158k to robbers
By Celso Amo LEGAZPI CITY --- Robbers took off with P158,000 in cash, including two cell phones early morning on Sunday inside the Corpuz Christy Monastery of St. Claire in Barangay Tabon- Tabon in Daraga, Albay. Fr. Romancito Moncheng Segubience, rector of Our Lady of the Gate Seminary in Sipi, Daraga town, personally appeared before the Daraga police to request for assistance Monday morning after the incident. Probers said the nuns were on the prayer room at the ground floor of the dormitory when the robbers struck. It was upon the praying nuns’ return to their respective rooms, that Eldest Sister Mary Madona Monterey y Luna, 64, treasurer of the monastery from Mogpog, Marinduque, discovered that the cash money amounting to P158,000.00, a black Samsung J2 Prime worth P6,000, a black Nokia cellphone worth P900.00 were missing, according to Senior Inspector Malou Calubaquib, Bicol PNP spokesperson. Investigation showed the suspects passed through the scaffolding of the dormitory going to the second floor. They then forcibly destroyed the screen window off the room where Sister Mary Madona was staying.
