Dr. Albeus elected to PDA 2nd top post

MANILA --- Naga’s pride, Dr. Jessie Albeus, has been elected as 29th Speaker of the House of Delegates of the Philippine Dental Association. The Speaker of the House is the 2nd highest position in the hierarchy of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA). Following the footsteps of Dr. Agaton Ursua (1964-1969) of Libmanan, Camarines Sur and Dr. Jesus Esquila (1984-1985) of Albay, Dr. Albeus, after 33 years, is the third Bicolano and the first Nagueno to have earned such national position of the PDA. As Speaker, Albeus will be presiding over the PDA’s legislative body composed of some 200 delegates from various constituent chapters and affiliate societies nationwide. Dr. Albeus was also accepted last May 9 as fellow of the elite International College of Continuing Dental Education during the convocation ceremonies presided by ICCDE President Dr. Jeffrey Tsang of Hongkong and Asia-Pacific Dental Federation. He was admitted to the ICCDE along with 67 other fellows from the Asia-Pacific region where he is only one of two Bicolanos accepted, the other one being Dr. Gari Zamora of Albay. Albeus has been active in the advocacy for oral health and its awareness campaigns, particularly in various public schools in Naga. In 2014, he was elected president of the Ateneo de Naga alumni association and was credited for the alumni association’s scholarship grants to poor but deserving college students of the Ateneo de Naga University. Albeus was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Ateneo de Naga University General Alumni Association (ADNUGAA) in 2016 until 2017. This year, he continues to serve as its public information officer in order to help sustain the alumni association’s Scholarship Grants program, Adopt-a-School, and the Ignatiana activities.
