91D deploys additional soldiers
By Luis Eli San Jose PILI, Camarines Sur --- The 9th Infantry (Spear) Division, Philippine Army deployed additional soldiers to its line units in a send-off ceremony held at Gen. Lukban Grandstand here, Monday, May 28. The batch of additional soldiers were composed of 12 second lieutenants and 149 newly assigned privates who came from 7th Infantry Division where they finished their pre-entry course for enlistment. The ceremony also formally marked the culmination of the newly assigned officers’ pre-deployment training. The training was designed to enhance the individual leadership skills of the young officers as they are about to take post as platoon leaders in the frontlines. The training also served as an orientation for them to be abreast with the peculiarities in the 9ID’s area of operation. The occasion was witnessed by the officers, enlisted personnel, and civilian employees of the Spear Division headed by Brig. Gen. Arnulfo C Matanguihan AFP, General Officer-in-Charge (GOIC), who also served as the keynote speaker. BGen. Matanguihan reminded the newly assigned personnel about their responsibilities as protector of the people and the state. “Military service is a selfless cause where we are expected to treat all peace-loving Filipinos as immediate family members. When they need help, lend a hand; when they are weary, carry them; and when they need protection, defend them,” he stressed. The command is expecting that the additional personnel will beef up the frontlines and will positively contribute in addressing the insurgency problem where CPP-NPA terrorist groups remain a potent threat to the peace and order situation in the Bicol Region.
