Former cop shot dead in sting set up
By Celso Amo LEGAZPI CITY --- A dismissed Manila policemen and notorious drug pusher was shot dead during a sting operation Tuesday afternoon in Jovellar, Albay. Alvin Esperos y Non, 45, a dismissed Manila policeman and resident of Barangay Parian in Camalig, Albay was killed during a sting operation conducted by combined police operatives from the Regional Intelligence Division, Albay police and elements of Camalig and Jovellar police 4:20 p.m., according to Senior Inspector Dester Nabol, Jovellar police chief. “He was not just an ordinary drug pusher because he was a former Manila policeman but a very difficult drug personality to neutralize who sell drugs in Guinobatan, Jovellar and the southern barangays of Donsol, Sorsogon. That’s why the regional, provincial and municipal police anti-illegal operatives have to conduct a joint sting operation, he added. Nabol said after the poseur-buyer completed the transaction, Esperos drew his cal. 45 pistol and fired at the operatives but missed, forcing other policemen to shoot back, killing him on the spot. Recovered from the victim were four sachets of white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, his cal. 45 pistol loaded with four live ammunition, and his blue motorcycle.
