USIAA to publish centennial book


NAGA CITY --- The Universidad de Sta. Isabel Alumni Association last Tuesday, Aug. 7, launched the USI Centennial Book Manuscript and the 2nd Wave of the Sesquicentennial (150th) Vincentian Awards. The centennial book, authored by Bicol historian Danilo Gerona, is expected to be released by February 2019, in time for the culmination of the 150th foundation celebration of USI which opened with grand celebration in February this year. The book will highlight the university’s rich history, culture and sustaining role as the first normal school for girls in the country and the Far East. The 2nd wave of the conferment of awards to outstanding Isabelinas, also to be held next year, will honor USI alumni for their exemplary achievements and contributions to the community, the nation, and the world. During the launching ceremonies, Prof. Gerona presented the centennial book’s manuscript to USI President Sister Lourdes A. Albis, as witnessed by officers of the USIAA, other university officials, alumni, faculty members, and students. The USIAA, through Dr. Cleotilde ‘Telly’ Hidalgo-How, also turned over P100,000 in memory of Ms. Soledad Dato-Hidalgo for the book project. Susan Tolentino Clasio
