Naga tops economic dynamism ranking

Gunay NAGA CITY --- This city, winner of various awards, lands first place in the Economic Dynamism category of the competitiveness ranking among other component cities of the Philippines. The awarding was conducted during the 6th Regional Competitiveness Summit of the National Competitiveness Council held on August 16, 2018 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.. One hundred twelve (112) other component cities were evaluated for the annual competitiveness ranking. Overall, Naga City is second most competitive component city in the country, a rank it has held last year (2017) wherein the city landed next to Antipolo City then and to Legazpi City this year. In 2015 and 2016, Naga City topped the overall competitiveness ranking for two consecutive years. Cities, as well as other LGUs, such as provinces, municipalities, and highly urbanized cities are ranked through these four pillars of competitiveness: (1) Government Efficiency, (2) Infrastructure, (3) Economic Dynamism, and (4) Resiliency. Mayor John Bongat said in an interview that he was more than glad that for four consecutive years, Naga City was able to go not lower than second place in the overall competitiveness ranking— a feat no other city had achieved. With the award, Bongat said that they will further enhance the city’s practice in the conduct of business in Naga that will generate more employment and improve the standard of living of the Nagueños.
