No classes on Friday


NAGA CITY --- There will be no classes in all levels of all public and private schools in this city on Friday, Sept. 7, in view of the Traslacion procession that will mark the start of the religious festivities of the annual Penafrancia fiesta. In a memorandum circular issued by Naga City Mayor John G. Bongat dated Aug, 24, 2018, all classes on Friday are ordered suspended, while all government offices and agencies are likewise suspended on that day from 10:00 a.m. onwards. Exempted from suspension of work, however, are those offices situated in the city, especially in the city government, involved in the maintenance of peace and order and traffic enforcement like the Public Safety Office, in disaster risk management and emergencies like the COMCEN, CDRRMO and the Naga City Rescue, in health aand allied services like the Naga City Hospitaal and Infrmary, and in the normal operation of the Bicol Central Station, the Naga City people’s Mall, the Naga City Abattoir, the Solid Waste Management, and the City Events, Protocol and Public Information Office. Masses prior to the procession start before noon of Friday while the procession itself start immediately after noon with contingents from various schools and religious congregations throughout Naga and Camarines Sur and even those outside of the province. The traslacion where the images of Divino Rostro and the Virgin of Penafrancia are brought out of the gates of Penafrancia chapel starts at about 2:00 p.m. for the one-kilometer barefoot procession by voyadores to the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral where they would day for the 9-day novena.
