NAGA CITY --- Seven gold medalists, 7 silver medalists and 4 bronze medalists in the 2018 Batang Pinoy sports competitions were given due honor by the city officials during last Monday’s flag ceremony at the City Hall grounds here. The honorees successfully competed in various sports disciplines during the Batang Pinoy athletic competitions held in Baguio City two weeks ago. The medalist young athletes earned their shining spurs in swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, pencak silat, and gymnastics for boys and girls (see table). Aged 18, 12 and under, the winning student athletes came from the ranks of both in-school and out-of-school children, particularly from Camarines Sur National High School, Naga Central School. Abcede Elementary School, Tabuco Central School, Naga City Montessori School, St. Joseph School, University of Nueva Caceres, Naga College Foundation, and Ateneo de Naga University. The total medal haul is already impressive considering that Naga is a small city competing with the bigger cities from around the country. During the recognition rites, the city government awarded the gold medalists with P10K each; P7K each for the silver medalists, and; P5K each for the bronze medalists. Mayor John Bongat thanked the young athletes for their exemplary achievements, and the parents, coaches and trainors, as well, for their support.
