Investment opportunities await as TIEZA’s TEZ hosts Naga forum

NAGA CITY ---The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), in partnership with Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Department of Tourism Region V, will hold a Tourism Enterprise Zone (TEZ) Investment Forum on October 11, 2018 at 10:00 AM in La Piazza, Avenue Plaza Hotel here as part of its regional roadshow to reach out to the investors around the region and inform them about the investment opportunities offered in TEZs and Tourism Enterprises. The forum is expected to be attended by various local and foreign chambers of commerce, developers, tourism enterprises, consultancy/law firms, tourism associations, and other tourism related establishments around the region. Meanwhile, speakers from TIEZA, Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA), Trade & Investment Development Corporation (TIDCorp), and Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) will discuss investment and business opportunities, incentives, guarantees, and other related matters that will shed light and guide the attendees in tourism development, and the future of TEZ. The forum will also have one-on-one consultations after the event. A Tourism Enterprise Zone (TEZ) is an area of at least five hectares in size and is in one contiguous territory with historical and cultural significance, environmental beauty, or existing potential integrated leisure facilities within its vicinity. Investment opportunities await in Flagship TEZs such as, but not limited to, the establishment of waterfront development and cruise port in Rizal Park Complex, Manila; power utility, lodging and accommodation establishments, and hotel resorts in San Vicente, Palawan; hotels, cable car system, and museum in Mt. Samat Shrine of Valor, Bataan; Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) Center, and family hotel resorts in Panglao Bay Premiere, Bohol; and commercial building, resort facilities, and themed gardens in Bucas Grande, Surigao del Norte. To date, TIEZA has already designated and registered seven (7) Private TEZs, namely, Ciudad de Victoria in Bulacan, Queen’s Castle Golf and Resort in Cebu, Bravo Golf in Negros Oriental, Hijo Resources in Davao del Norte, Kingdom Global City in Davao, Aton Land & Leisure Zone in Negros Occidental, and Amorita Resort in Bohol. TIEZA also has two (2) Registered Tourism Enterprises (RTEs), namely, Magikland, which is located inside the aforementioned Aton Land & Leisure Zone and Kingdome Stadium, located inside Kingdom Global City. For designated Tourism Enterprise Zones and Registered Tourism Enterprises (RTEs), fiscal and non-fiscal incentives such as the six-year income tax holiday, 5% gross income taxation, tax and duty free importation of goods and services, capital investment and equipment, transportation equipment, lease of land to foreign nationals, employment of foreign nationals, and foreign currency transactions, among others, will be available to tourism enterprises therein, as provided under R.A. 9593.
