A dynamic young man treads the political path
LEGAZPI CITY --- A virtual unknown in local politics is now creating a stir in this city ruled for many years by veteran politicians.
Though not entirely new in politics, having been the first nominee of Ang Tsinoy Partylist in 2010, Carmelo Redencion ‘Jun’ de Leoz is running for councillor in this city’s 2019 local elections. He carries the banner of Kusog Bikolandia, the newest accredited regional political party in Bicol, where he is the secretary general.
During the filing of his candidacy, Jun de Leoz was accompanied by his Barangay Chairman Domingo Pasano and SK Chairman Gaston Leones, along with another Barangay Chair, Nicaso Barrios of Barangay Puro, which event was amply covered by members of the local media.
Immediately, statements of support were extended by various community leaders who know Jun to be an efficient and dedicated worker. Three SK chairmen from the three big barangays of the city, namely, Jordan Alpajaro of Bigaas, Jomar Apuli of Rawis and John Paul Mangampo of Taysan, expressed their unequivocal support.
He is now stomping around the city’s barangays to be part of their community dialogues and various barangay events.
Wealth of experience
The people have reason to welcome Jun’s entry into the political ring.
As a dynamic person, Jun is an active member of the Political Officers League of the Philippines. He has served as consultant to Chinese and Korean investors in the country.
Prior to these engagements, De Leoz prepared the feasibility study for the re-opening of the Postal Savings Bank and was eventually appointed Senior Manager/Acting Assistant VP of the bank.
The hopeful councilor started his early career as a government servant when he worked with the Office of the President/Presidential Management Staff as program head-in-charge of the Special Concerns of the President’s Social Fund.
An active student leader in his youth, De Leoz pursued his advocacies in uplifting the plight of the marginalized by helping organize employees’ unions and associations and providing consultancy and advisory services to various national labor federations. jbp
