LEGAZPI CITY --- The soul of a murdered teacher in Albay still makes her presence felt to her husband as if begging for justice.
Mylene Durante,22, an elementary teacher of Oringo Elementary School was stabbed to death by a Grade 12 pupil from another school in the evening of October 10 while sleeping inside the principal’s office with two students companions, Mechie Orbigo,13, and twelve-year-old Hezel de la Vega, 12 who were also wounded in the scuffle.
“Two days after her burial I saw a plastic bottle filed with distilled water shaking on the table,” said Al John Durante, the victim’s husband.
Before All Saint’s Day, I saw her dress folded on a chair suddenly fell on the floor for unknown reason, he added.
“Many nights between 10:00 p.m. up to 4:00 a.m. I couldn’t sleep as she wants to show me vividly what happened to her as she struggled before she died.”
He said he can hear her voice telling him to take good care of our two children--a one year old and a three year old -- as she cries for justice.
He also said that many of her friends especially the teachers who know her visited her grave at Polangui Catholic cemetery in Barangay Sugcad on All Saints’ Day.
Meanwhile, a person fell inside a grave after the top portion caved in at about 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the public cemetery in Sto. Domingo, Albay in Barangay San Isidro on All Saints’ Day.
Chief Inspector Genievive Usirin, Sto. Domingo police chief, said three persons were standing on top of the grave when it suddenly caved in.
“One of them even fell on top of the coffin,” said Usirin.
The incident disturbed the of peace and those praying inside the cemetery while the owner of the grave asked those responsible to repair the grave the following day.
Usirin said many people were forced to stay on top of the grave due to the number of people present.
“There was even a 100-meter long wooden temporary passage about five feet long so visitors can go to the back portion of the cemetery,” said Usirin.
