Video showing mayor threatening members of task force goes viral

DAET, Camarines Norte --- A video of Capalonga Mayor Senandro Jalgalado threatening to beat and kill members of provincial task force has gone viral on social media days after it was posted.

The video, which was posted on Facebook garnered more than 900,000 views and was shared over 16,765 times as of press time. The video captured Mayor Jalgalado threatening the members of provincial task force who allegedly blocked the trucks of LGU Capalonga that were reportedly carrying gravel and sand from Brgy. Old Camp in Capalonga. Jalgalado was also heard shouting “P*tangina! Upakan niyo yan!” (“Son of a bitch, beat them!”) He was also heard cursing at Camarines Norte Governor Edgardo Tallado. In an interview, Jalgalado said the video was spliced and showed only the intense part of the confrontation. “Mahaba yun eh kasi bago yun nangyari na nagalit ako. Eh binanatan nang mga task force na yan yung mga tao ko dun, kinuha yung susi ng dump trucks,” he said. Jalgalado was claiming that the provincial task force was sent by Tallado to block the dump trucks that were supposed to deliver gravel and sand in the villages of Capalonga for the construction of the roads which according to him were heavily damaged by typhoon Usman last December. Tallado, however, said that Jalgalado failed to secure permits for the quarrying prompting him to send the task force Kalikasan to Barangay Old Camp. “Wala silang permit, walang record na nag apply sila saamin pero yung quarrying operation nila tuloy tuloy kaya tayo ay nagpa dala nang task force doon to apprehend them,” Tallado said in an interview. But Jalgalado said they have been asking for permits but Tallado ‘kept on denying it’. “Maraming beses humingi kami ng permit ngunit hindi kami binibigyan, yung grava kailangan na dahil hindi na madaanan yung ibang baranagay sa aming bayan.” he said. Asked if he had any regrets over the outburst in viral video, Jalgalado said; “Tao lang ako na nagagalit, kung gusto ni Tallado mamersonal ay ako nalang sana, wag na niyang perwisyoihin ang bayan ng Capalonga.” Meanwhile, Tallado said they would still file criminal charges against Jalgalado. “Tayo ay magpa-file ng kaso sa Ombudsman yung car napping, obstruction of justice dahil tinakot niya ang mga tao, planting of evidence at theft of minerals, maari din namnin siya kasohan ng attempted murder or homicide dahil inatake sa puso at ngayon ay nasa hospital yung isang tao natin dun dahil sa ginawa niya,” Tallado said. Tallado also said they might request the municipality of Capalonga be placed under Comelec control.
