Conjoined twins baptized after successful operation: SAP Go stands as sponsor

DAET, Camarines Norte ---- Former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence Go stood as principal sponsor during the baptism of conjoined twins Divine and Mercy on Sunday afternoon at the Most Holy Trinity Cathedral here.

Go, along with Camarines Norte Gov. Edgardo Tallado and four others, were the principal sponsors at the baptismal ceremony officiated by Father Fidel Era of the Diocese of Daet in Camarines Norte.

Divine and Mercy, the six-month-old conjoined twins had undergone successful twin separation surgery at the Philippine General Hospital last January 31, with the assistance of Go, according to Tallado. The conjoined twins were brought to public’s attention by the local Brigada station here which ran a feature story about the plight of the twins’ parents.

Divine and Mercy were born on September 5, last year, to parents: Ravelin Guinto, 31, and her live-in partner Edmund Cerillo, 38, of Barangay Sabang, Vinzons town.

Tallado, upon learning about the difficulty of the parents in raising funds for the surgical operation, referred the case to Go who immediately responded by endorsing the twin’s surgical procedure at the PGH. The conjoined twins were, then, sent to the PGH for medical study and later underwent surgical procedure that separated them from their conjoined stomach.

The twins’ parents are members of the 4Ps where the father is a subsistent fisherman. Go who flew in here on Sunday, was joined by other PDP Laban senatorial candidates during a rally at the Provincial Capitol Gymnasium here.
