Cop ambushed

LEGAZPI CITY --- A policeman was gunned down on Monday morning by still unidentified gunmen in a village in Pilar, Sorsogon, a police report said.

Killed was Senior Police Officer 3 Juje Razo, 52, of Barangay Binanuahan, and a member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Pilar town station, according to Police Chief Inspector Maria Luisa Calubaquib, PNP Bicol spokesperson.

Raza, while riding his motorcycle, was ambushed by at least three gunmen believed to be New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Barangay Marifoque at around 7:30 a.m. The suspects were reportedly armed with long and short firearms.

Calubaquib said the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds that killed him instantly.
