NAGA CITY --- A father, his wife and their 9-year old daughter, believed to have drowned, were found dead and floating in the sea waters of Barangay Buenavista, Tinambac, Camarines Sur last Sunday morning.
The Tinambac Municipal Police Station confirmed that they received the report from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO-Tinambac) that Rolando Quiñones, 50 years old, his wife Belen, in her 40s, and their 9-year old daughter Lovely, were found floating and lifeless off the waters in the said barangay.
Police Supt. Gary Mangente, Tinambac chief-of-police, stated that based on their investigation, the family arrived by boat last Saturday to attend the traditional “papasyon or pabasa” in the house of a relative.
At dawn of Sunday, the family was seen embarking on a small paddle-driven boat, or “baroto”, to go home to Barangay Salvacion.
Mangente believed that the boat hit a hard object as evidenced by the fracture on the right side of the boat that caused it to capsize.
Wtnesses said that Rolando was under the influence of alcohol when they left the shore to paddle their way home.
