Ex police officer running for city councilor attack by rebels
LEGAZPI CITY --- A former police colonel and a candidate running for City Councilor was reportedly attack on Wednesday afternoon by suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA)in Barangay Cagbacong a remote village here, a police officer said .
Police Colonel Wilson Asueta, Albay police provincial director said report said a group of alleged NPA rebels attack at around 3:20 p.m Ramiro Bausa a retired police officer and a candidate for city councilor while visiting a friend in said village.
Asueta in a phone interview said that they are still in the process of validating the report whether Bausa was indeed attack.
Joven Llanto Bausa’s driver told the police that while he was waiting for Bausa who then was in a house of a friend, he heard five gunshots rang and later two unidentified person approached him and ordered him to leave the area.
Asueta said his office is still waiting for a report whether the former police officer was either killed or have been abducted.
Bausa was a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Batch 87, he was assigned as PNP provincial director in Camarines Sur in 2014.
