Family Reunion on Lenten Season

THE approaching Lenten season will lead all roads to the provinces as most families spend their Holy Week and Easter Sunday with their families. Expectedly, most bus terminals for southern and northern Luzon will be quite busy as bus companies make available as many buses as they can on a “pihit” basis. It is our hope that the Department of Transportation and other police authorities will see to it that buses are fit for the long travel ahead and that drivers are not under the influence of drugs or hard drinks. Reportedly, traffic control authorities are making random checks to this effect. The Holy Week and Easter Sunday are the times of the year when most families hold their family re-unions. The other time of the year is during Christmas season. It has been our unfortunate observation, however, that unlike before, most Catholics and other Christians no longer spend their Holy Week either at home or in churches making the Via Cruzes or attending processions or listening to the Seven Last Words homilies. This time however, most if not all, are out in beach resorts with their families. It would seem that the fervor of silent observance of the Holy Week by mulling over the death and suffering of Jesus has gone. Indeed, how times have changed!

TRIVIA: The Knights of Columbus Mons. Jorge Barlin Assembly (MJBA) will be observing its annual Via Cruzes to Carolina where there are 15 Stations of the Cruz from San Felipe to the Catholic chapel in Carolina. They will start after the 6:00 a.m. mass at the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral. As usual, lunch at Carolina will be sponsored by Sir Knight Tim Elopre and his lovely spouse Sis Ester.

The family of the late Dione Badiola is inviting all members of the Knights of Rizal and Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Assembly for lunch on April 20 at their family residence in San Felipe on the occasion of the 40th day death anniversary of the late Dione.

Congratulations to all the members of the U.P. Alumni Association for their successful re-union and general assembly held last April 6 at Villa Caceres Hotel. Ms. Sieglinde Borromeo-Bulaong is the incumbent President of the Association.

QUOTATION OF THE WEEK: “MAKE YOURSELF INDISPENSABLE AND YOU’LL BE MOVED UP. ACT AS IF YOU ARE INDISPENSABLE AND YOU’LL BE MOVED OUT.” ANONIMOUS

FOR OUR WORD OF LIFE: “THEY WILL BE CALLED OAKS OF JUSTICE, PLANTED BY THE LORD TO SHOW HIS GLORY.”
