NAGA CITY --- Vice President Leni Gerona Robredo calls on her fellow Nagueños to rally behind the whole slate of Team Naga, as well as the senatorial ticket of Otso Diretso, and Congressman Gabby Bordado so that she could have a working ally with the both of the leaders in the Senate and the House of Representatives, as well as the local officials at city hall where projects and programs may flow for the welfare of her city and the people that her husband Jesse loved and nurtured.
She said that being in the opposition, she needs to count on loyal friends who will continue to carry out the task of public service and community building with less distraction and hostile maneuverings from political foes. “Jesse on his first term as mayor had a hard time because he only had three councilors on his side as against the so-called Magnificent 7 from the opposition who were concerned more with politics and the desire to derail at every turn the good plans of the mayor and his minority party.”
“Jesse had learned his lesson,” VP Leni told her jam-packed audience, “that’s why he [Jesse] worked hard to mobilize a cohesive team that was to be called later as Team Naga.”
From 1992 (on Jesse Robredo’s second term) and until now, or for the past 9 elections, Team Naga had always swept all local elections in the city with overwhelming results, the vice president recalled.
She said she is grateful that Mayor John Bongat had triumphantly steered Naga to greater progress, perhaps more than what Jesse did; “so I expect that mayoral aspirant Nelson Legacion will continue to carry on the legacy that Jesse had started and Nelson, my former boss in a cause-oriented volunteer lawyers’ group will without a doubt erect his own milestones of success, alongside with the whole of Team Naga."
She specifically rooted for councilor-aspirants Oying Rosales and Joe Perez, who are new in the team, to be part of the new city administration, as they each have their own impressive credentials to speak of.
The vice president had been the primary endorser of Team Naga in the latter’s rallies in the three barangays of Igualdad, Mabolo, and Triangulo last Monday evening and the three more barangays of Bagumbayan Sur, San Felipe, and Concepcion Pequeña Tuesday evening.
She was also in the three other towns of the third district of Camarines Sur to gather strong support for re-electionist Rep. Gabby Bordado.
