A refreshed Mutya ng Pilipinas kicks off in Naga

The 50-year-old beauty pageant organization Mutya ng Pilipinas announced its new management led by media celebrity and women empowerment advocacy Cory Quirino as its president.

Best known as a multi-awarded and radio lifestyle host and wellness advocate, Ms. Quirino brings with her six successful years in pageantry, having produced outstanding winners including one major international crown.

Chairman of Mutya ng Pilipinas Fred Yuson revealed the strategic move as “one which will positively secure the future of the organization.

Quirino shared her vision which is “In search of the Hometown Girl, we at Mutya intend to give every young lady who dreams of having a crown on her head a chance to be discovered,” she said.

The search will begin at the barangay level, thus, an MOU was signed with the Liga ng Mga Barangay headed by Kapitana Eden Pineda under the auspices of DILG Usec for Barangay Affairs Marin Dino, to bring Mutya closer to aspiring candidates.

Another welcome change in the organization’s thrust is to discover other talented candidates who will be given the opportunity to become a movie or TV star, model or career woman. For this, a partnership was formed with A Team president Ogie Alcasid.

Talks are also underway with ABS-CBN to open its doors to talented Mutya candidates who could possibly join the ranks of Star Magic artists.

A new development happened as Ms. Quirino took on the reins of the Mutya pageant. Mutya candidates who have a minimum height of 5’9” can qualify for the Top Model search, a prestigious reality modelling contest based in Serbia. Ms. Quirino announced the partnership first here.

“Wherever the Filipina is and whatever hometown she resides in, whether here or abroad, we extend a warm invitation to her to become a member of the Mutya ng Pilipinas family,” announced Ms. Quirino.

Mutya ng Pilipinas international search will continue with its existing partners abroad. The official search of Mutya ng Pilipinas began on April 19. Coronation night is set in August this year.

Meanwhile, the first screening for Mutya candidates was held here in Naga City this week at the SM City Naga activity center. It was organized by international talent manager and trainer Anjo Santos, a Naga native who is now emerging in the international scene after training Ms. Thailand Universe H’Hen Nie. A presscon preceded the screening with media practitioners present.
