Escudero wins by landslide



LEGAZPI CITY --- Outgoing Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero (Nationalist People’s Coalition) is just waiting for the Commission on Election (Comelec) to officially proclaim him as the newly-elected governor of Sorsogon province.


As of the latest partial and unofficial vote tally by the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) issued 2:00 pm.last Tuesday, May 14, Escudero garnered a total of 303,960 votes.

His closest rival, Bladi Frivaldo (PDP-Laban), got only 31,867 votes so far.

Other candidates for the gubernatorial post are Redentor Guyala with 2,985 votes, Pads Rollin Galindes with 2,550, Lady In Action Gabards with 2,084 votes, NestorGotis with 1,838, Mike Lopez with 1,163, and Mandy Lucila with 694.

Escudero is among the four outgoing senators, along with Antonio Trillanes IV, Gringo Honasan, and Loren Legarda, whose terms will end in June 2019.

Chiz’s mother, Nanay Elvie, re-electionist Sorsogon 1st District Representative, received overwhelming 118,436 votes against her rival Christine Balita’s 62,051 votes.

In the second congressional district of Sorsogon, Ditas Ramos (NPC), sister of outsoingRep. Ning Ramos, received 110,264 over her three other rivals: incumbent Sorsogon Gov. Bobet Lee Rodrigueza (PDPLBN), with 75,711 votes; Randy Medina (Lakas), with 4,107 votes, and Juan Escandor (Ind), with 4,023.
