NAGA CITY--- The pedicab driver who hacked to death his fellow pedicab driver is now in the hands of the Naga City police.
Members of the Tinambac (Camarines Sur) municipal police station last Monday (May 27) afternoon turned over hacking suspect Romeo Helis Y De Los Santos, 50, to the city police following his arrest in his hometown of Tinambac where he escaped after boloing to death his fellow pedicab driver Ramon Abay y Boras, 44, of Zone 2, Sitio Jimenez, Concepcion Pequena, this city.
The bloody incident happened following a fist fight Sunday (May 26) afternoon between Helis and Abay.
Abay was reportedly drunk when he passed by Helis’ residence and a heated argument between the two followed that led to a fist fight.
Helis then got inside his house and took a bolo, hacking the victim Abay several times in the upper part of his body.
The suspect immediately fled.
Victim Abay was rushed to the Bicol Medical Center but Dr. Azuero B. Baeza pronounced him dead at 6:10 in the evening of that same Sunday.
Suspect Helis was apprehended by Tinambac operatives in Barangay Sugod of that town at about 12.30 p.m. on Sunday. Two hours later, he was motored to this city for proper disposition by the Naga police who had launched a manhunt for him shortly after the hacking incident and asked the assistance of other police stations in the province.
Meanwhile, two brothers were arrested after a buy bust operation conducted by the police Thursday morning (May 23) in Zone 4, Barangay Tabuco, this city.
Police operatives recovered from Edgar Majencar, 26, and his younger brother Sean Edward Majencar, 25, sachets of shabu worth P4.08M.
