DENR officials brief members of the local media in National Environment Month activities.
NAGA CITY, (PIA) – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Camarines Sur kicked off the National Environment Month celebration thru the FORUM@PIA program, enjoining more media partners to serve as information multipliers of the department’s advocacy.
On June 5, Wed., during the FORUM@PIA held at the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Provincial Office, 2nd Floor, Firande Square Building here, DENR –Camarines Sur OIC Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) Grace L. Cariño acknowledged the indispensable role of the media in transforming DENR’s advocacy to realizable and feasible actions.
“First, I want to thank the PIA for inviting us for this forum. This is also a take-off for our Environment Month, and of course, I want to thank our friends from the media. We know that though we are a national agency mandated to protect, manage and conserve our environment, we cannot do it alone. We need you to disseminate to our constituents, whatever projects and programs that we have,” Cariño said.
FORUM@PIA is PIA-Camarines Sur Provincial Office’s regular communication activity featuring various agency’s heads as resource persons and the members of the local media as its partners.
Cariño also enjoined the media and other environment stakeholders that all of DENR’s efforts are geared towards the preservation of Mother Earth and everyone should be its stewards.
During the forum, she also imparted DENR’s programs and policies relative to the enforcement of different environmental laws. Cariño also tackled the month-long activities geared towards the promotion of the DENR’s mandate in line with the said celebration, with the theme “Beat Air Pollution.”
From June 17 to 19, DENR will showcase various environmental practices and activities of local government units, academe and other industries to the public thru the Environment exhibit which will be staged at the Robinsons Place Naga.
