MORADA KILLING: Militants hold protest rally
LEGAZPI CITY --- Bayan Muna Party List Rep. Isagani Zarate led yesterday a big protest rally seeking justice for the spate of killings against five militant activists in the provinces of Sorsogon and Camarines Sur, Bayan Bicol spokesperson said.
Vince Casilihan Bayan Bicol spokesperson said thousands of militants from across Bicol joined the protest caravan dubbed as “Kilos Bikolano Laban sa Tiranya” where a big protest action was held at Plaza Quezon in Naga City yesterday afternoon.
About 4,000 militant activists (Bayan, Karapatan, KMP, Gabriela) from the six provinces in Bicol, joined the protest caravan.
Rep. Zarate, together with Danilo Ramos, alias Ka Daning, of Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) visited the wake of slain former Bayan Muna Bicol leader Neptali Morada in Barangay Carolina in Naga City. Zarate gave tribute to the contributions that Morada had extended to the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan Bicol (Bayan Bicol). A plaque of recognition was given to the slain Bayan Bicol’s family, Casilihan said. Morada, former Bayan Muna leader in Bicol and a staff member of former Camarines Sur Vice Gov. Fortunato Pena was gunned down by still unidentified gunmen on Monday in Barangay San Isidro, Naga City.
From Barangay Carolina, Zarate’s group kicked off the protest caravan where it was joined by four other groups stationed at Naga City Rotunda, Barangays Mabolo, Canaman and Bagumbayan. All four groups converged at Plaza Quezon where a program was be held denouncing the series of killings against members of the militant group.
