Suspected gunrunner posts bail; Bar owner faces drug case anew
NAGA CITY --- Arnulfo Fausto, 47, a member of the Traffic Management Officer of the Public Safety Office (PSO) here was given temporary liberty after posting bail.
Fausto, Officer-in-Charge of the Traffic Management Center of the PSO, was arrested following a buy-bust operation conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Camarines Sur at his office in the afternoon of June 20.
He was booked for selling unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Operatives said they recovered a caliber 45 pistol and ammunition that Fausto claimed was planted by a poseur buyer.
But the arresting police personnel thereon charged the suspect for violation of RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act.
Last June 22, paid P200,000 for his temporary liberty as recommended by the city prosecutors office.
Meanwhile, businessman Dennis Chiu, 38, was nabbed following a buy-bust operation last Sunday, July 23 at around 7:40 p.m. at Reno St. in Magsaysay Ave, this city. Operatives of Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) recovered from the suspect 30 grams of suspected shabu worth P15,000. It was the second time that Chiu was collared for illegal drugs.
The restobar that he owns, located along Magsaysay Avenue, was temporarily closed following his arrest last October 2018 for allegedly peddling illegal drugs inside the bar.
He pleaded not guilty during the ensuing court hearings and was eventually acquitted due to insufficient evidence, the police said.
Last Monday (June 24) afternoon, he was once again nabbed for a similar case. And police said that may be his last for his case this time, with sufficient evidence, faces life in prison.
