VP Leni for President?

VICE-PRESIDENT Leni Robredo hit the nail right on the head when she refused to be enticed by TV and print media reporters to run for the Presidency in the 2022 presidential election. During the interview she said that our country is beset with economic and peace and order problems, including the controversy with China and other ASEAN nations that need leadership attention such that talking about running for the highest position in Malacanang is not in her agenda. I remember Senator Cynthia Villar sharing the same sentiments when she was asked by reporters after her election as senator. Be that as it may, Bicolanos and most especially Naguenos would be proud to have from our place for a President of our country. After all, we already missed that opportunity when the late Senator Dominador R. Aytona and Raul S. Roco failed in their desire to become president of the land. But then VP Leni can indeed still bid her time as she correctly pointed out that becoming a President of this country is a matter of destiny.

Through this column I wish to commiserate with the family of the late veteran movie actor Eddie “Manoy” Garcia who died in a freak accident while on location shooting. Reportedly, he never regained consciousness after a period of hospital confinement. Before his death, he was active in campaigning for the Party-List “Ako Bicol.”

Congratulations to Vir and Ludy Salvador who will be celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary this coming June 29th with a Eucharistic celebration at the Penafrancia Church. Reception will follow at the Queen Rose at Villa Caceres. Yours truly and my spouse Minda have been honored as sponsors together Judge and Mrs. Salvador Cajot, Atty. and Mrs. Simeon Adan and Mr. and Mrs. Timoteo Elopre. Bro Vir is an active 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and the Knights of Rizal, Naga Chapter.
