3 barangays in Naga, 10 in CamSur are “drug-cleared”

NAGA CITY --- At least three barangays in this city and 10 more in the Province of Camarines Sur have been cleared of drugs by the Philippine Drug Enforcment Agency (PDEA) Bicol regional office.

This came after successful drug-clearing operations have been conducted in the areas.

Naga City Police Office (NCPO) City Director P/Col. Felix N. Servita Jr., identified the drug-free barangays in the city as Dinaga, San Francisco, and Bagumbayan Norte, the latter having been given the “drug-cleared” status since 2018 by the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council and the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council.

Validation of documents and information, including closer investigation by the Regional Oversight Committee on Dangerous Drugs that include representative-members from such agencies as DOH, DILG, PNP and PDEA were conducted prior to the award of drug-clearance certification to the deserving barangays.

The criteria for clearance include: non-availability of drug supply in the area; no report of drug trans-shipment activity; absence of clandestine drug laboratory/chemical warehouse; no marijuana plantation; no drug den, pusher, user and drug protector; and no barangay or SK official involved in illegal drug or drug-related activity.

Meanwhile, 10 barangays in Camarines Sur were also cleared of drugs by the Camarines Sur police provincial office although the names of the barangays were not immediately available.

The assessment and validation were conducted by the Regional Oversight Committee on Dangerous Drugs under the leadership of PDEA-Bicol Regional Director Christian O. Frivaldo. PIA5/Camarines Sur
