Archbishop Installs New Parish Priests, Vicars Forane
Solemn Installation of Fr Albert Balderas at St. Martin de Porres, Tagongtong Goa CS
The Ceremony of Installation is an occasion when a new Parish Priest is formally presented to the parish in a liturgical context. The ceremony is so arranged to remind priest and people of their responsibility together before God to serve Christ in his Church, and by their holiness and the example of their lives, individually and as a local community, to promote the mission of their Lord.
These months of July amd August, the Archbishop of of Caceres, Most. Rev. Rolando J. Tria Tirona, OCD, DD, has installed several parish priests who were newly assigned in some parishes of Caceres. Usually a parish priest has a 6 year term while an asst parish priest or parochial vicar has 2 year term.
The ceremony tales place during the Holy Mass and is attended by many parishioners, who came to say “thank you” to the outgoing Parish Priest and welcome the new one.
Among the highlights of the installation, is the Oath of Office as pastor of the local church (parish) and Oath of Fidelity to the teachings of the church. The parish and barangay pastoral councils and religious orginzarions are also formally presented to the new pastor. And finally the key to the tabernacle is given by the archbishop to the installed pastor. This signifies the responsibility of taking care of the flock entrusted to him.
