Archbishop Installs New Parish Priests, Vicars Forane

Solemn Installation of Fr Albert Balderas at St. Martin de Porres, Tagongtong Goa CS

The Ceremony of Installation is an occasion when a new Parish Priest is formally presented to the parish in a liturgical context. The ceremony is so arranged to remind priest and people of their responsibility together before God to serve Christ in his Church, and by their holiness and the example of their lives, individually and as a local community, to promote the mission of their Lord.

These months of July amd August, the Archbishop of of Caceres, Most. Rev. Rolando J. Tria Tirona, OCD, DD, has installed several parish priests who were newly assigned in some parishes of Caceres. Usually a parish priest has a 6 year term while an asst parish priest or parochial vicar has 2 year term.

The ceremony tales place during the Holy Mass and is attended by many parishioners, who came to say “thank you” to the outgoing Parish Priest and welcome the new one.

Among the highlights of the installation, is the Oath of Office as pastor of the local church (parish) and Oath of Fidelity to the teachings of the church. The parish and barangay pastoral councils and religious orginzarions are also formally presented to the new pastor. And finally the key to the tabernacle is given by the archbishop to the installed pastor. This signifies the responsibility of taking care of the flock entrusted to him.

Installation of New Vicars Forane

Last July 29 also marked the formal assumption of 5 newly appointed vicars forane of Caceres.

MThe newly appointed vicar foranes are the following: Fr Glen Ruiz, vicar forane of St John the Evangelist Vicariate (Cathedral Area), Fr Rey Caceres, vicar forane of Holy Cross (Nabua-Bato Area), Fr Ricky Colinares, vicar forane of St Paschal Baylon (Tinambac Area), Fr Elmer Pandes, vicar forane of St Michael the Archangel (Caramoan Area) and Fr Joenelo Penino, vicar forane of St John the Baptist (Goa Area).

The vicar forane is the priest appointed by the archbishop to oversee several parishes composing the vicariate. The canonical duties of the vicar forane are listed in canon 555 of the Code and are commonly classified under three aspects: 1) promotion and coordination, 2) vigilance, and 3) support and counsel. His duty of promotion and coordination chiefly pertains to his responsibility to oversee and assist in uniting the other presbyters in his vicariate in a common pastoral activity. This includes all aspects of ministry, including liturgical, catechetical, missionary, charitable, social, cultural, educational, etc.
